In a nutshell

Acção Ambiental or Acción Ambiental [Portuguese and Spanish for environmental action and from now on AA] was constituted in Portugal in 1997 to challenge a planned landfill. The three-year struggle may, or may not, have secured an important safety improvement in the facility's design. But the campaign was in many ways disappointing and AA decided to undertake new conservation efforts outside Portugal where there was more to conserve and where the NGO's limited resources could have a greater effect. Several Latin American countries were considered before Peru was chosen.

Since 2001, AA has worked on or supported a range of projects, mainly in Peru's Cuzco region, and recommended many more. Click here for more information about us.
